Let me start my saying….
Many thanks on behalf of mum… and from all of the family for joining us today…

We have some amazing tributes and stories posted on the memorial web site – also thanks to those who took the time to remember him.

Here are some reflections on the things dad loved and how he made us feel…

Garstang morning…
Boy scouts, Girl guides
Kirkham, Durham, Kidmore End, Nairobi, Washington, and here to Goring

Farming systems expert… more crop yields, less poverty and inequality… always modestly.

Red soil savanna. Long shorts, short trousers.
Clean kids, cleaner toilets, - but ‘mums still feeding the horses’
Swahili speaker, worldwide traveller, loving gardener.

Naivasha sunrise, boats and birdsong.
Malindi sea spray, goggling, belly surfing…
Sandcastles in the sky…

Laser sailor… Squash, Golf, and tennis player
– with a devious underarm spin serve

Pork pies, chipolatas, Dutch liquorish, sherry trifle
Whitecap, Tusker or a pint of bitter.
Paper pea shooters,
…. Then more pork pies

Star trek, James Bond. Eric Morecambe, Ernie Wise
Sgt peppers. Mungo Jerry.   ……some great Dad dancing

In the summertime when the weather is high
You can stretch right up and touch the sky

Goodbye Michael – son and father, uncle, grandpa – loving lifelong partner...

Everyone’s friend.
Gone but never forgotten.
